If we discover worms in the wood floorings, we should replace them partly. Otherwise, the

worms would spread around. Then, why the wood floorings would have worms?

The reasons why wood floorings have worms are as followed: wood floorings themselves do

not deal with the worms inside when they are dried under high temperature. Under

normal circumstances, worms would hatch half a year later. Keels are not qualified. As we

do not deal with drying and worm-killing, the wood would produce more and more worms.

Therefore, it is recommended that we should check clearly. It takes half a year that the

worms come out. The hatchery period is also half a year. If a year has past, it is possible

that other worms would come. If the keel has worms itself, and we do not find out, the

conditions will be more and more severe. Maybe the operators put the insect-resist agents

under the plastic film, the agents can not play their roles perfectly. Normally, it is plain

plate that appear worms. The unlacquered hardwood floorings would not have worms.

 

Technical problem may be one of the reasons that would have worms, but not all the

worms are produced in wood. As for qualified  hardwood floorings, they would not have worms

normally. Then what are other reasons?

As domestic decoration have to use many wood floorings and chipboard, many of them are

easy to have worms when they meet with suitable temperature, humidity and non-

professional insect-resist dealing. Besides, worms can easily damage wood. It is

undoubtably that insects is the key invader. Therefore, when the wood floorings have

worms, only can we control them that we can treat the worms.

Another phenomenon is that the worms actually come from under the hardwood floorings.

However, it is not surely the fault of wood floorings. Many consumers are care about the

quality when installing, but they ognore the quality of keel. If the keel have high moisture

content, or the woods do not do insect-resist agents, it may cause unexpected effect.

Causes and solutions of local wood floorings arch camber

Local arch camber of wood floorings always trouble owners. What on earth would cause

this phenomenon and how to avoid it?

Reasons why  wood floorings would cause local arch camber:

First, moisture contents of the surface layer are a little higher or lower than normal

conditions. When it is a little higher,  hardwood floorings would loose moisture in the dry

air. The fracture would shrink, crack and deform. When it is a little lower, hardwood 

floorings absorb moisture after installation. Thus, it would cause local arch camber.

 

Second, if stone concrete or heat-preserved sound insulation material between the wooden

joist are not dry enough, hardwood floorings would camber or deform after installation.

 

Third, if the floors are not installed with skirtings or vent, the moisture inside can not expel

after installation.

Forth, if the subfloor do not have gap or just have few, surface layer would camber or

deform after damp expansion.

In order to prevent arch camber or deformation, we should pay attention to several points

when installing.

First, control the moisture content, less than 12%

Second, stone concrete or heat-preserved and sound insulation material between the

wooden joists should be dried before installtion.

Third, set the vent reasonably. The grooves should be open to each other and connected

with the surface layer. There should be more than 2 vents in every room and every

skirting board. The vents must be well-ventilated.

Forth, We should open the gap of subboards. Normally, it is 2mm to 5mm. The surface

should be planed and staggered. There should be a distance of 10mm to 15mm between

the walls.

Fifth, there should be a 10mm gap between the surface layer and the wall, and use

skirtingboards or skirting to seal them.

The color contrast of the wood flooring is mainly because that the sapwood is light

color and the heartwood is darker color.

 

As a result, there is difference in colors between the sapwood and the heartwood, between

the young wood and the old wood.The color contrast in wood grain creates the unique 

beauty of wood grain in wood flooring. And this is a beauty of the wood from nature. In

Hardwood flooring is suitable for the under floor heating ?

In fact, the solid wood flooring is not recommended to be used for the under floor heating

system.

Reason 1: the hardwood flooring is with high moisture content in the wood , even the wood

flooring is already kiln-dried.the high moisture content may bring about  distortion of the

hardwood flooring. Besides, if the solid wood flooring is installed in an incorrect way, the

distortion problem may also occurs.

 

Reasons 2: it takes you much time and energy to maintain the hardwood flooring for the

under flooring heating. You have to  check the temperature of the solid wood flooring when

you are going to turn on or turn off the under flooring heating. Because the solid wood

flooring could not bear the sudden change of temperature.

 

Reasons 3:  That is the effect of the heat conduction, which is  in the energy aspect. The

coefficient of heat conductivity  of the floor material is as below :

 

Natural Stone> Tile> engineered Wood Flooring> Laminate flooring>

hardwood Flooring>Carpet> wool carpet

 

The lower the coefficient of heat conductivity is, the more engery it takes to achieve the

same heating effect.

As a result, the hardwood flooring is not a good option if your home is with the under floor

Standard Installation for Hardwood Flooring

Tasks to Wood Flooring Base Level

 

1.The proper distance between two wood joist should be≤ 350mm

2. Wood joist should be installed flatly and firmly.

3. Wood joist should be corrosion resistance(width ＞35mm ). Coniferous timber or multiply wood flooring would be more suitable than others.

4. Insect-resisting agents and desiccants should be spilled at the contact area of ground – wood joist and corners.

5. The underlayer foam and wood based panels(cut in not larger than size 600×600mm) should be put firstly onto subflooring (concert).Every wood based panel should be separated ＞5mm.

6. Moisture-proof film should be put onto the based panel, and its thickness is more than 5mm, adhered firmly. All process should be conducted at skirting board area. Moisture-proof film should be fold to the wall about 10mm to make sure the whole Moisture-proofing effect.

7. Keep the gap left from wood board to the foot of wall to 8-10mm measured by wood skirting board. The timber should be lined up according to expansibility of different wood flooring. Make room for expansion because of varied moisture content of wood flooring and moisture content of surroundings. Contact area with furniture, washroom, balcony, door, kitchen and cabinet should be sealed by plastic strip.

8. Length of installing area is longer than 8m, separation should be made by Bridge connection processing.

affordable addition to any home.

With proper cleaning and maintenance, engineered wood floors will last many years. Follow

Spills

Clean spills as soon as they occur. Just like hardwood floors, engineered wood floors are not

designed for prolonged exposure to moisture. Additionally, some liquids can stain the

laminate floor if they are left in place too long as they can work their way in between the

layers of particleboard and veneer. Once this occurs, it is necessary to replace the stained

boards, rather than to try to clean the stain.

Area Rugs

Area rugs are an excellent way to protect the high-traffic areas of the floor from hazards

such as high heels and damaging scuffmarks. However, they can also trap fine dirt and dust

onto the floor. Lift areas rugs and clean under them regularly. This dirt can scratch the

floor every time someone steps on the area rug if it is not removed regularly. For floors

Heavy Mop

Periodically, kids, pets, spouses, and other acts of God and Nature leave the floor heavily

soiled. Use a straightforward cleaning solution consisting of one part white vinegar and

three parts hot water, damp mop the floor. Be sure to wring the mop thoroughly before

applying to the floor, as excessive moisture is the enemy of wood. The hot water will loosen

the soil, and the white vinegar is an excellent cleansing agent. Because the solution is so

diluted, the vinegar will not leave an odor. Because white vinegar is such a strong cleaner,

the floor will dry to bright, streak free shine.

How to Repair a Solid Wood Floor

Solid wood floors, while long-lasting, can be damaged. Scratches, nicks and gouges out of

the wood are the most common issues facing solid wood flooring. Other issues may include

warping, squeaky or loose boards as well as actual holes in the floor. In cases of severe

damage, planks may need to be entirely replaced rather than just repaired. If the floor is

warped or has holes, replacement will definitely be necessary. Most other common

problems can be solved by refinishing

Instructions

1Sweep the floor. Before you can repair a solid wood floor, the surface must be entirely

clean. Sweep the floor and pickup any debris with a dust pan. If the floor is very dirty, you

may need to use a damp cloth to pick up the dirt. If you do end up using a damp cloth, you

must wait until the floor is absolutely dry before proceeding.

2Sand down the damaged spot on the wood. Extend the area out several inches around the

damage to make sure that the finished result is as seamless as possible. Use a medium or

heavy grade sandpaper. If the gouges are very deep, you may need to use a belt sander.

Make sure that the entire area is smoothed out and that the damage is no longer visible.

3Clean up the dust from sanding. Sanding produces a great deal of dust that will need to be

completely cleaned up before you can refinish the flooring. Use a broom and a dustpan to

get the majority cleaned up, and if necessary, wipe down the area with a damp cloth and

allow it to dry. The area should be free of all dust.

4Stain the sanded area. Using the same stain that was previously used on your flooring, or

one that matches as closely as possible, stain the newly sanded surface. Use a paint brush

for smaller areas, or a larger roller applicator for large areas. Work with the grain of the

wood. Apply a light coat and allow it six to eight hours to dry. If the color is too light, apply

more coats as necessary until the flooring matches.

5Clear coat the spot. In order to prevent future damage, clear coat polyurethane should be

applied over the stain. Once again, use a paint brush and apply a very thin coat to the area.

Allow this spot six to eight hours to dry. If you notice any bubbles or rough spots, the area

will need to be lightly sanded and clear coat will need to be reapplied. Allow the fixed spot

12 hours to dry completely after the last coat before allowing foot traffic on the spot.
