A.   Introduction

Wood materials act after the surrounding climate, the main factor is the relative humidity (RH, %).

High humidity means the wood – expands; low humidity – it shrinks.

Due to this natural property you must pay attention to the instructions below.

B. Check before installation

You find additional information to each section further below:

  1. Store the packages in the future room climate and open package after package when you install.
  2. This floor will be floating installed,i.e. keep always a distance to all fixed construction parts.
  3.  Check your floor construction.it must be dry,clean, firm and even,eliminate always wall to wall carpets and investigate the floor.
  4. Choose underlay materials (read carefully below!) according to your own situation – all floors are unique!
  5.  Measure the room, decide installation direction.Note the limitations as per below – due to natural behavior of wood!
  6. Check you floor continuously during the installation.Installed defect boards can easily be replaced – cannot be complainted!
  7.  Keep always the right room climate 45-60 % RH at 18-24 °C.
  8.  Maintain/clean your FLOOR correct and you will enjoy the floor.

C.      Floating  Installation

Your floor is made to be installed floating without glue:

  1. Begin laying in the left-hand corner. Place the floorboard 4-6mmfrom the left wall. The distance to the wall in front (4-6mm) is not important because the flooring can be pushed into place at a later stage.
  2. Press the end section of the next floorboard at an angle to the first one, then lay down. Complete the first row in the same matter.
  3. Place the final floorboard face down and the short side without the locking strip towards the wall. The distance to the wall should be 4-6mm. Mark where the floorboard is to be cut.
  4. Place the floorboard face down on the work surface and cut to size using a pad under 1 saw. Use a fine toothed type if you are using a hand saw. In this case, cut the floorboards face up.
  5. Use a cut piece of board from the previous row to start the next row. This must be at least30 cmlong. If the piece is too short, start with a new board, cut in half. Always ensure that the end joints are staggered at least 30 cm.

However, with the economy changing, price of raw material and cost of production rising, Chinese wood flooring industry is facing an unprecedented challenge. Some factories sell seconds at best quality prices, liked bicolor wood flooring, Mixed attached wood flooring, attaching veneer wood flooring, transfer-painted wood flooring and short lifetime wood flooring.

“Five ghosts” means 5 kinds of fake wood flooring of bad quality which is liked real hardwood flooring from appearance. We can easily distinguish the quality after revealing the secret of fake solid wood flooring.

1. Bicolor wood flooring

5. Short lifetime wood flooring

Wood flooring is kind of products with strict production craft. Some factories with limited technology can not produce hardwood flooring of high quality. The adhesion and hardness of coating can not reach national standard. Especially control process of moisture content is a key measurement for real wood flooring.If fail to put on a strict process on regulating, it is easy to find the situation of coating peeling off, starch, out of shape.

Determination Methods: sand or saw of the board along length direction to find trace of finger joint.

Features: Megaphanerophyte that can grow as tall as 16mm and 0.75m diameter long. Straight trunk; Bark can be 1-2 CM long. Light yellow white heartwood, inconspicuous boundary from the white wood, suitable for floors and furniture etc.

Basic Density: 0.49g/cm3

Feature&Utility

Cross Section:Diffuse-porous wood,distinct difference exists between sapwood and heart wood.The heart wood is reddish brown to purplish red brown with stripe of light color.The sapwood is nearly white. No obvious annual ring, slightly fragrance.There is resin blackspot sometimes. Cross lamination grain,fine and even structure. Drying shrinkage: 1.8% warp shrinkage rate,3.5% chordwise shrinkage rate. Air-dry density: 0.851.03g/cm3.

 Property of Santos Mahogany Wood

Medium air shrinkage,heavy,high intensity&hardness,good resistance to insect.The sapwood is hard to be impregnated by preservatives.It is uneasy to process into wood timber.The cutting section is smooth and hard to be painted.

Utility of Santos Mahogany Wood

Distribution and feature

African padauk belonging to megaphanerophyte,can grows more than 30 meters tall and 1.5m long diameter.It is normally in tropical zone and largely import from central and west Africa, Cameroon, Gabon ,Congo.

Structural feature

Bark:0.5-1.5cm thick, friability,rough,easy to spall. Cortex is taupe and the bast is red brown. There are more developed phloem fiber surround the phloem.

Cross section: Sapwood is obviously different from heartwood. Heart wood for the new sections color is red brown, and turns into puce in the air for a long time.Sapwood is yellowandwhite,5-8cm wide.There is not obvious annual ring.

Macroscopic structure:diffuse-porous wood.We can see pores by eye. Solitary pore is more than multiple pore. There are vegetable glue and sediment.

Property of African Padauk Wood

Glossy, faint aroma, straight grain mixing with interlocked grain, medium weight,hardness, intensity and dry shrinkage,good processing property.
